Robin McElligott

Role and Responsibilities

As the Independent Living plant operations director at The Commons, Robin McElligott oversees our maintenance, housekeeping, IT and security departments. She works closely with residents and families to ensure our community environment is well-coordinated, welcoming and well-maintained.

“My goal is to build trust and create an environment where both residents and associates feel supported,” Robin shares. “Being part of the daily life of this community is meaningful and I feel privileged to be welcomed into residents’ homes and experiences.”

Career Journey

Before joining The Commons, Robin spent 30 years in the publishing industry, developing strong communication and service skills. She began at The Commons as a concierge, advanced to lead concierge and later campus front desk supervisor before serving as the Independent Living plant operations director. Each role strengthened her understanding of resident needs and community life.

Milestones

Robin was recognized as a Benchmark Senior Living Service Champion nominee, acknowledging her dedication to residents, families and associates. In October 2025, she was also honored with the LeadingAge Massachusetts Emerging Leader Award, which recognizes exceptional leadership, commitment to mission and promise for continued impact. The award highlighted her ability to strengthen culture, improve communication and guide significant campus expansion efforts.

Passion for Senior Care

Robin has always been drawn to meaningful connections and service. She finds joy in building relationships, offering support during both everyday moments and times of need and ensuring residents feel comfortable and at home. “The relationships we build here stay with me,” she says. “They are what make this work deeply fulfilling.”

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Robin enjoys spending time with her family, walking along the beach with her husband, shopping with her daughter and sharing lunches and conversation with her mother.
