The Commons in Lincoln, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Lincoln, Massachusetts, has been recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a high performer in Skilled Nursing care for quality and rigorous safety standards. The CMS distinction is awarded to only about 12% of skilled nursing providers nationwide and it illustrates The Commons’ dedication to the highest quality of care.

A Distinction Reflecting an Exceptional Commitment to Care

The recognition is part of CMS’s new Risk-Based Survey program, launched nationwide this fall. To qualify for the quarterly risk-based assessment, a Skilled Nursing or long-term care facility must meet stringent criteria including a five-star overall CMS rating, accurate data submission to CMS, evidence of no citations for harm or substandard quality of care during its most recent survey cycle and no recent ownership changes.

Personalized Care Rooted in Compassion and Connection

“We are honored to receive this recognition from CMS, and I am especially proud of the team whose care and dedication made it possible. The distinction demonstrates our firm commitment to excellence,” said Laurie Roberto, Executive Director of The Commons’ health center. “Whether someone comes to us to recover after a hospital stay, needs long-term care or chooses to make The Commons their home, we take the time to get to know them and understand what matters most to them. We work to ensure every person receives exceptional care and feels comfortable, supported and empowered.”

Imagine a Future Supported by a Full Continuum of Care

As a CCRC, The Commons provides a full continuum of care, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Mind & Memory Care, Sub-Acute Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing, supporting residents at every stage of life. Its 32-bed, Medicare-certified service welcomes admissions from local hospitals and serves residents from across Massachusetts and the Northeast. Dedicated care teams deliver state-of-the-art therapeutic programs and individualized services, including cardiac care, wound management, postsurgical care, social services, and dental, podiatry and audiology consultations.
