The Commons in Lincoln Welcomes Ted Koppel for Resident Interview and Community Discussion
The Commons in Lincoln recently welcomed acclaimed broadcast journalist, news anchor and author Ted Koppel for a special resident interview and community discussion led by The Commons resident Dr. Timothy Johnson, longtime medical editor for ABC News.
A Conversation Between Longtime Colleagues and Friends
Koppel is best known for anchoring ABC’s Nightline from 1980 to 2005. Dr. Johnson was a familiar presence across ABC News programs, including Good Morning America, where he helped educate audiences about a wide range of health care topics.
Connected through their distinguished careers and a friendship that has continued over the years, Koppel and Dr. Johnson brought their conversation to The Commons, giving residents a firsthand look at Koppel’s life, career and experiences in journalism.
“Many of our residents have had long, influential careers over the years, and it is such an honor when our residents offer their time, talents and connections to our community at The Commons. We are grateful to Dr. Johnson for providing this opportunity and to Ted Koppel for joining us on campus. Our residents appreciated the experience and left feeling energized from the conversation,” said The Commons in Lincoln Executive Director Debra Foster.
More Than 80 Residents Attend Special Event
The interview drew a full house, with more than 80 residents in attendance. Dr. Johnson spoke with Koppel about his life and career before opening the conversation to residents for a question-and-answer session.
The event offered residents a unique opportunity to hear from one of broadcast journalism’s most recognizable voices while engaging directly in the discussion.
